  • We match puppies to families based on the buyer’s application, lifestyle, and preferences. You can specify the sex and color of your puppy, but our priority is to place each dog in a home that ensures its long-term success and well-being.

Each puppy undergoes basic temperament assessments to gauge personality and adaptability. This allows us to match you with the puppy that best aligns with your living situation and expectations.

  • We encourage all puppies to be spayed or neutered after 24 months.

We recommend waiting until the dog is fully grown to support healthy development.

  • You have two options for ear cropping:

OPTION 1: Maine Dobermans arranges the crop:

    • $3800 for a puppy with an ear crop

    • Pickup : Approximately 9-10 weeks

    • Scheduling & Care: We handle scheduling, transportation to the vet, and initial post-surgery care. However, once the puppy is picked up, the new owner assumes full responsibility for all further ear maintenance and posting.

    • Pickup: We will schedule the procedure so that the puppy is ready for pickup shortly after the surgery.

    • Support: If any issues arise after pickup, the new owner can work directly with the vet for follow-up care or questions.

OPTION 2: You arrange the crop:

    • Pickup: 8 weeks

    • There are limited clinics in New England that perform ear cropping. We can provide contact details to help you schedule the procedure with a trusted provider.

  • Dobermans’ ears are often cropped to give them their signature upright look, traditionally associated with their role as working dogs. Cropped ears can reduce the risk of ear infections, especially for active dogs, but the procedure is optional. This choice is entirely up to the owner, based on personal preference and lifestyle. Both cropped and natural-eared Dobermans can thrive as loving, loyal companions.

    • Standard Pickup: 8-9 weeks.

    If Ear Cropped: 9-10 weeks.
We do not permit visits until the puppies are 5-6 weeks old, to ensure their health and safety.

    • Our Dobermans are bred with a focus on producing healthy, well-tempered dogs. We breed for Black/Rust and Red/Rust coats, both of which are recognized and align with the traditional Doberman standard. While some other colors, such as Blue or Fawn, can occur, we prioritize maintaining the breed’s health and standard. We do not breed for albino, warlock, or any non-standard colors that are not recognized by the AKC or FCI.

  • All of our puppies have their tails docked between 5-7 days of age. Tail docking is a customary practice in Dobermans, aligning with the breed’s historical role as working dogs. The docked tail reduces the risk of injuries in active or working environments. While tail docking is primarily cosmetic today, it remains standard for Dobermans to maintain their traditional appearance and conformation.

  • All puppies come with Limited AKC Registration, which means they cannot produce registered offspring. Full registration may be available under certain conditions. Contact us for more information.

  • For safety and privacy, we generally do not host on-site visits. However, in certain cases, we may allow visits with special coordination. If approved, visits will only be scheduled after the puppies are at least 7 weeks old to ensure their health and well-being.

We also offer photos, videos, and virtual calls, and can arrange meetings upon request. Additionally, we post regular updates on social media or directly via text and email to keep families connected with our dogs.

  • All puppies must be picked up in person at our Maine location. If you need transportation, we can refer you to trusted puppy delivery services.Item description

    3. Genetic Health Guarantee

We stand behind the genetic health of our Dobermans. Our breeding dogs undergo rigorous health testing, including screenings for Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM1 & DCM2) and Von Willebrand’s Disease (vWD). Puppies are guaranteed to be free from these genetic conditions, and documentation is available upon request.
