Maine Dobermans is a family-owned breeder located in Central Maine with over 20 years of experience working with Dobermans. Our goal is to produce healthy, well-rounded puppies with excellent temperaments that reflect the breed’s true nature.

We practice ethical breeding and ensure our dogs thrive on high-quality diets and in enriching environments.

We are not a kennel—our Dobermans are family members. They interact daily with horses, chickens, cats, and other dogs and accompany us in our outdoor lifestyle. They also live in our home alongside young children, making them adaptable and well-socialized companions.

ABOUT THE BREED

Doberman Pinschers originated in Germany during the late 19th century, mostly bred as guard dogs. Their exact ancestry is unknown, but they’re believed to be a mixture of many dog breeds, including the Rottweiler, Black and Tan Terrier, and German Pinscher.

With its sleek coat, athletic build, and regal appearance, this pup looks like an aristocrat. They’re highly energetic and very intelligent dogs who perform well in police and military work, canine sports, and as family guardians and companions.

Unlike some common misperceptions, Dobermans are very friendly, make wonderful family dogs, and are great with children.
